Make a difference 💫

We’re on a mission to make businesses happier and more successful by putting them in control of their finances. Our accounting app is already used and loved by thousands of accountants and small businesses and this role is an exciting opportunity to promote a product that makes a real difference to its users and the businesses they run.

It's an exciting time in the accounting and banking space. We're seeing a revolution in the FinTech industry, and government initiatives such as Making Tax Digital and Open Banking are opening up new features and products for customers.

The technology in this space is changing rapidly and at FreeAgent we're working on the cutting edge. We're focused on providing the best possible user experience for our growing customer base.

The Role 👩‍🚀

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and well-organised individual to join our UXr team on a fixed term contract for 12 months. Your mission is to provide operational support across the team. You’ll also have ample opportunity to get involved with hands-on research so this is a great opportunity for someone looking to start or develop their career in User Research.

Day-to-day here’s what you can expect:

  • You’ll be a team player - collaborating with individuals across the research team to plan, organise and conduct user research.
  • You’ll be making sure research projects run smoothly - coordinating all elements of organisation from recruitment to documentation.
  • You’ll help to make our workshops enjoyable and useful for all those that take part. You’ll organise stimulus materials, create and send agendas, support workshop tasks and collaborate with the team in the write up.
  • You’ll be setting up and administering beta groups, ensuring the right participants are involved, and the feedback is packaged up for our product teams to act on.

You 🙌

Ideally you’ll

  • Have a desire to develop a career in user research.
  • Have a basic understanding of research methods and when best to apply them.
  • Have an understanding of user-centred product design and delivery practices.
  • Be empathetic. You’re intrigued by people and how they think, and you’re naturally drawn to see the world from another person's point of view.
  • Be annoyingly curious. You're always asking why something works the way it does, and trying to get to the root of a problem.
  • Have an awareness of the need to align user research with team goals to support decision making and action.
  • Get a kick out everything being super organised and believe teamwork is the dreamwork!
  • Have a degree in a related field (psychology, cognitive science, human factors, computer science, product/interaction design, human computer interaction).

Extra kudos for 🏆

  • A keen eye for process improvement
  • Knowledge or experience of working in an agile delivery environment

Benefits 🎁

Annual salary of £28,000+/- depending on experience, plus we provide a comprehensive package of employee benefits which have been carefully selected to protect you, to promote healthy lifestyles, and to give you peace of mind. You can read more about these on our website.
