We’re changing how people think about health and care. We have passion for new ideas that are changing the world by the minute. Cerner has been improving health care IT for more than 30 years. We strive to deliver value in all we do, and support organizations to deliver the quadruple aim of healthcare. Our technology supports health care systems, hospitals, GPs and community services to be the best they can be and to deliver connected, safe care.

Cerner's User Experience (UX) organization is looking for a Senior Human Factors Researcher to join the Human Factors (HF) team. We’ve grown the largest UX team in our industry. Associates on the team are located worldwide and are focused on the specific goal of reshaping our applications to enhance the end user experience and address patient safety. Human Factors Researchers have the unique opportunity to collaborate with clinicians, developers, project team members, and other UX associates to identify and solve complex health care problems.

Human Factors Researchers assist internal product teams on user interface design and usability through the application of human factors principles, standards, and research methods to ensure our products are both safe and effective. The Human Factors Researcher engages with product teams throughout the product development lifecycle, from discovery to implementation. You will conduct quantitative and qualitative research studies to understand the context in which an improvement may be made, elicit end-user needs for that improvement, and validate the success of a design against established usability goals.

Specifically, the researcher will work closely with UX Design to ensure that functional and end user needs are met, internal standards are adhered to, heuristics are appropriately applied, and risks are mitigated with strategies inherent to the design. You will analyze the data from the research studies you facilitate and synthesize that data into research findings. By understanding the vision of Cerner products, you are expected to use this knowledge to effectively communicate research findings and suggested improvements to product teams and other stakeholders in a manner that supports decision making and compels action.

The Human Factors Researcher is responsible for establishing research objectives that address project objectives, defining participant recruitment requirements, and for helping to ensure the user is at the heart of user-centered design at Cerner. Come join our team!

If you’re out to change the world in ways that matter, we want to hear from you. As a Cerner Associate you will be joining an inclusive, diverse, social and innovative workplace that has a strong emphasis on developing talent and promotion from within. You will be rewarded for you hard work with a competitive salary and a host of additional benefits including generous insurance and pension plans, season ticket loan scheme, active lifestyle reimbursements and cycle to work programs.
