Are you wanting to play a key role in helping teams develop a holistic, end-to-end understanding of the experiences that our consumers and customers face in their rental journey. If you want to pursue your professional goals as you help grow an innovative real estate tech company, this work is for you. Join us as our newest Senior User Experience Researcher, Rentals and help change the world of real estate, one home at a time.

We’re looking for a senior user experience researcher to work in our Rentals space. You’ll play a key role in helping teams develop a holistic, end-to-end understanding of the experiences that our consumers and customers face in their rental journey. The insights that you gather about their needs, attitudes, emotions, and behaviors will inspire and inform the experiences we build. Your cross-functional product teams will consist of product managers, marketers, designers and developers that will be distributed across the US and Canada. While we’re building out the Product Research program, you will most likely support more than one product team to start. You’ll work with the design leaders within each area to ensure that there is alignment on the prioritized work with the necessary time/capacity allocated to it.

This role will report to the Sr. Director, Product Research

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct end-to-end research using a mix of methodologies, qualitative and quantitative, to help us gain confidence in our understanding of consumers circumstances and needs and uncover insights into what they truly need
  • Partner with product teams to help develop a holistic, end-to-end understanding of the experiences that consumers and customers face
  • Design and develop multiple research studies, identifying the best methodology in partnership with team members, executing with attention to detail and quality
  • Guide product teams in applying the most effective approach for achieving research goals and help them work together to arrive at actionable consumer insights
  • Synthesize research data, create research readouts, create spectrum personas, behavioral archetypes, and behavioral segmentation for the design and product teams to utilize in their lines of business
  • Plan and facilitate research, synthesis and insights workshops with cross-functional partners
  • Influence product roadmaps through data and research
  • Influence your product team to look for and ask the right questions rather than rushing to answers and solutions
  • Collaborate with, and learn from, the inclusive design and accessibility team in order to successfully adopt and incorporate inclusive methods into your research practice

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience designing and conducting research (in-person and remote) and be able to show how your work has had an impact on product roadmaps and/or informed design decisions
  • 2+ years providing research direction and mentoring to junior colleagues
  • Experience with a variety of qualitative and quantitative research techniques, along with the knowledge of when and why to apply them
  • Have created effective ways of sharing your insights so they resonate and are impactful
  • Experience crafting your own research questions, research objectives, interview guides
  • Comfortable working with data. Examples include gathering data, analyzing data, creating research readouts, and curating research.
  • Experience creating behavioral segments, spectrum personas, and user journey maps
  • Experience with facilitation (such as workshops and training)
  • Experience in UX Design, hierarchy of information, and product development/optimization
  • Strong and clear communication skills - an expert storyteller in a variety of settings with multiple levels of stakeholders and effective deck builder
  • Informed and strong opinions, loosely held
  • Exemplifies a “We, Not Me attitude”
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
