Are you a user advocate that's looking for a unique opportunity in user research?

It's a particularly exciting time for product delivery at Which? as we move forward with our ambitious transformation programme, putting users at the heart of every product and service we create. Over the next twelve months we will be developing both our commercial and consumer advocacy product offering, trialling new ways of working and driving innovative user-centred approaches at every opportunity.

What will I be doing?

This is a varied role involving both doing and coaching. You'll be part of the Product Design and UX Research team and will work across squads in a fast paced agile environment. As a User Experience Researcher, you'll be involved at each stage of the design process, from discovery research that will shape the squad's strategy, to proposition validation, and evaluation of the product. What's more, the research that you do will be fundamental to our user-centred approach, and you'll see your insights come to life as they are implemented across our products.

You'll have the opportunity to work with people both inside and outside of the business – from in-house Designers and Product Managers, to the wide range of people that use Which? services. You'll take ownership of your projects, working closely with the design team and Product Managers to generate new opportunities for research.

The research activities you undertake could include diary studies, remote unmoderated tests, and remote interviews. As we move towards seeing other people again, the techniques could then involve face-to-face interviews, contextual enquiries, and any other methodology that you feel could address the squad's needs. The rest is really up to you. You will have the scope to get involved in side projects, such as setting up an onsite testing environment and trying out emerging research techniques. You'll also mentor and coach other team members in different user research techniques.

To enable you to do all the above, we will equip you with the tools you need to run research remotely (i.e. Video Conferencing, UserTesting.com, OptimalWorkshop) and, as long as it is deemed safe from COVID-19, the resources to run research in-person (e.g. lab access, recording equipment for in-field research).

What we're looking for:

As a Senior UX Researcher you will:

  • Select and run User Research methods appropriate to the brief
  • Lead and define User Research, usability testing, and discovery research and their interpretation into actionable insights
  • Lead User Research from planning to delivery, including recruitment and scheduling, defining the brief, facilitating sessions, analysing insights, and embedding results into design and development efforts
  • Ability to suggest and explain research methodologies or techniques based off project needs or goals
