As a Senior User Experience Researcher, your research will inform the design of intuitive solutions for the women and men that protect our country, impacting not just their ability to do their job, but their ability to save lives. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes designers, researchers, and engineers that create solutions that matter. Our work portfolio is diverse as the User Experience (UX) Center-of-Excellence at General Dynamics Missions Systems supports programs that operate on Land, Sea, Air, and Space (Cyber and out of this world). What you’ll do:

  • Understand and interpret complex processes and convey to team
  • Interview subject matter experts and users
  • Execute all phases of research from planning to report writing
  • Evaluate products using best practices, task analysis, requirements research, heuristic evaluations, formative and summative usability studies, and surveys
  • Deliver compelling, prioritized research findings to inform design decisions
  • Create engaging reports and present to stakeholders
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to determine and present relevant findings
  • Collaborate regularly with designers, researchers, developers and other stakeholders
  • Produce user personas, workflows/journey maps, and other artifacts relevant to early UX design
  • Identify creative alternatives when presented with barriers to progress
  • Contribute to efforts focused on optimizing tasks, resources, and deliverables in support of projects/programs
  • Participate as an active project team member on challenging projects/programs
  • Travel minimally

  • Strong understanding of and ability to apply fundamental cognition, perception, human decision making, and usability principles

Star qualities (what could set you apart):

  • 3+ years experience in UX research AND a graduate degree in a related field
  • Experience with wireframing tools like Axure, Figma, or Sketch
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate focus group exercises
  • Demonstrated ability to design, pilot, and conduct lab and field usability studies
  • Experience with Adobe CC (especially Illustrator/Photoshop)
  • Experience with web, mobile, or desktop application development
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • General understanding of CSS, HTML

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or field or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 0 years of relevant experience.
