Who You Are

Responsibilities

We’re seeking a promising quantitative or mixed-methods UX Researcher to work closely with cross-functional product teams. The research focuses on understanding users and potential users of an employee health and wellbeing product. We are particularly interested in behavior change related to improving health outcomes. You’ll be joining a small but mighty team of five: three UX researchers and two data scientists.

You have experience with quantitative research methods, especially survey science. Familiarity with behavior change and human psychology, or previous experience in health and wellbeing research is an asset. Additional experience with qualitative research methods is also a plus. Your research will focus on actionable insights that directly impact the work of product managers, designers, writers, and engineers throughout our global organization.

In this role you will wear many hats but your skills will be especially essential in the following:

  • Designing and running surveys of users and company representatives, from questionnaire design through analysis,
  • Proactively and independently identifying high-impact research questions from a product or business perspective,
  • Answering those questions with quantitative methods, including surveys, data analysis, and causal inference. Qualitative methods experience is an asset but not required,
  • Planning and leading research end-to-end, including foundational quantitative research,
  • Collaborating with other researchers to infuse products with behavioral insights,
  • Clearly communicating your research insights for teams to translate research findings to product and business impact,
  • Representing the user’s perspective through the whole product development process, working closely with product managers, designers, engineers, data scientists, marketing, and leadership,
  • Understanding the needs of diverse user groups and balance them with the goals of a fast-paced, growing business,
  • Communicating results clearly and persuasively with a high degree of quantitative rigor,
  • Assisting with research operations, including exploring and setting up new research tools.

Qualifications

What you bring to the team

  • 4+ years quantitative or market research experience (can be a combination of industry and academic experience)
  • Experience in healthcare or behavior change research or a related field preferred
  • Strong track record of qualitative and quantitative research projects, impacting decision making and strategy design, and meeting constraints
  • Excellent presentation skills communicating insights and suggested actions
  • Excellent collaboration and facilitation skills across different stakeholders
  • Experience choosing and managing research tools and panels and vendors
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Record of applying your research skills to create product and business impact and/or understand real-world decision-making
  • Master’s Degree or PhD preferred in relevant field of study (for example: HCI, Behavioral/ Decision Science, Psychology (quantitative), Economics, Sociology, other social sciences, Math/Statistics)

Work to maintain system and data security at a high standard, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the Virgin Pulse application is not compromised. Adhere to industry best practice coding standards and verify all code developed at Virgin Pulse is free from bugs and security vulnerabilities such as those defined and published by OWASP.
