Roku streaming players and Roku TV™ models are available around the world through direct retail sales and licensing arrangements with TV brands and pay TV operators.

The Role

Roku is looking for an experienced UX Researcher to run research initiatives that deliver insights to help us build easy-to-use and delightful product experiences for our 40M+ users around the world.

You will partner with product management and product design to innovate and deliver features and capabilities across the Roku platform, while maintaining the integrity and cohesiveness of our user experience.


  • Partner with product management, product design, and engineering from product strategy through execution, to understand technical and business requirements and prioritize research opportunities
  • Develop a research strategy, roadmap, and budget
  • Create, plan, and execute research initiatives that influence how we build delightful products
  • Collect and analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, surveys, logs, and A/B experiments
  • Present research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and presentations
  • Advocate for prioritization of changes, refinements, and improvements to the user experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience as a user researcher
  • Confidence in the breadth of research methods, including selecting the most appropriate methods for a given problem or question
  • Proven methodological skills including expert review, usability testing, survey design, text & verbal analysis, and observational fieldwork
  • Experience collaborating with teams of designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers throughout the product development process
  • Experience with research across a variety of products and platforms
  • Proficiency in Research tools such as Optimal Workshop, Dscout, and Qualtrics (or similar)
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and relentless attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to define, plan, and lead projects forward
  • Portfolio highlighting multiple projects demonstrating flexibility in applying research methods in varied contexts (include online portfolio link with resume)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Research, Cognitive Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
  • Quantitative research experience such as A/B testing, SQL, statistical analysis, data analysis, and working with large amounts of data
  • A passion for TV
