Soundtrap is a collaborative, browser- and cloud-based recording studio. As of November 2017, we are a part of the Spotify family. Our mission is to enable music and podcast creation for everyone, no matter where in the world you are or what device you are using. We’re a unit within Spotify, small enough to move fast and make our own decisions, but with all the technical resources that we need from the larger company.

The Soundtrap Product insights team supports the whole company with product related insights, and has a crucial role in strategic decision making when it comes to which direction the Soundtrap product should go.

The team consists of two Data engineers, 2 Data scientists and a User researcher combining both Qualitative and Quantitative data to form actionable insights. The team is newly formed and is on an exciting journey forming and harnessing the way insights and data can take Soundtrap to the next level!

What you’ll do:

  • Based in a newly formed Product Insights team you will work with a wide variety of stakeholders from designers and product managers to business developers and engineering teams to help define and uncover insights for product development
  • Be an active part of defining and developing hypotheses for understanding human behaviors and identify needs
  • Planning, coordinating and executing user research initiatives and projects, and include multiple members of disciplines in the process
  • Carry out a variety of research methods, primarily of qualitative nature, but also quantitative – and further develop them to suit different needs or requests
  • Document and analyse the material and data that is gathered in an orderly fashion so that it can be applied and used for both current and future projects
  • Synthesize findings so that it can be communicated for multiple stakeholders within Soundtrap and Spotify to impact the product development
  • With a curious mindset investigate and explore new tools, methods and practices to develop the discipline within Product Insights at Soundtrap and Spotify

Who you are:

  • You will have 2 to 5 years relevant applied experience with a degree or higher in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Social Science, or a related discipline
  • Recent experience in a research role
  • You have broad experience of qualitative research methods
  • You are comfortable planning, scoping, conducting, analyzing and communicating research
  • You are familiar with quantitative research methods, comfortable with metrics and A/B tests, and are able to synthesize quantitative data with qualitative user research
  • You are a great storyteller and communicator, able to speak fluently to business people, designers, engineers and other stakeholders (in English)
  • You are an independent thinker, able to work autonomously, capable of taking on loosely defined problems and translating complex thinking into practical application for diverse audiences
  • You enjoy collaborative work in a dynamic, data-driven, creative environment

Due to holidays, we will start evaluating applications for this role the first week of August (3rd of August), and will get back to you following that.

You are welcome at Spotify for who you are, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or what’s playing in your headphones. Our platform is for everyone, and so is our workplace. The more voices we have represented and amplified in our business, the more we will all thrive, contribute, and be brilliant. So bring us your personal experience, your perspectives, and your background. It’s in our differences that we will find the power to keep revolutionizing the way the world listens.

Spotify transformed music listening forever when we launched in 2008. Our mission is to unlock the potential of human creativity by giving a million creative artists the opportunity to live off their art and billions of fans the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by these creators. Everything we do is driven by our love for music and podcasting. Today, we are the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service with a community of more than 299 million users.
