We’re looking for a User Researcher to support our growing foundational research function. This researcher will bring deep user empathy and help plan, create, and improve our current and future product and service experiences to improve our users’ health journeys. The User Researcher will support the growing research function across multiple responsibilities. This individual will support senior members of the team to help provide insights and understanding that empowers Hinge Health to create new offerings and therapies to bring the most value to our users. Specifically, the individual will help with critical research support when needed where the research function as a whole will: conduct impactful generative, formative, evaluative research studies that enables Product and Design teams to work with new insights and make more confidently informed decisions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting and may have conducted or had exposure to various methods of user experience research. The candidate should have strong communication and collaboration skills and experience working in cross functional teams. An ideal candidate will have the makings of an astute researcher with experiences in a blend of qualitative and quantitative research that impacts hardware and/or software. Some exposure to/experience with the concepts and process key to user research to support analysis and communication of findings into product and design recommendations & decisions. The right candidate will be knowledgeable about UX, UI, and service design; passionate about user empathy; learning about the health space, comfortable in a flat, dynamic, fast-growing, and agile organization; and motivated by Hinge Health’s mission to measurably and significantly improve the health and lives of our members!

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Support all aspect of research
  • Collaborate to impact both qualitative and quantitative research efforts
  • Inform product design to create best in class user experiences
  • Design research projects collaboratively, finding the best method to extract the best insights
  • Increase empathy across the organization based on consumer insights
  • Assist in prioritizing research, making sure the research impacts key projects

What We’re Looking For

  • 1-4 years experience in user research
  • Keen sense of empathy and the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes
  • Educational training ( eg, HCI Program) or one to three years of experience in research in a company that is creating and selling hardware and or software
  • Curiosity about people and what makes them do what they do
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with senior researchers
  • General knowledge of design standards for physical and/or digital products


  • Interests or experience in the medical vertical
  • Experience with one or more tools of user research such as (but not limited to) remote testing tools, card sorting tools or diary study tools
  • Exposure to other methods of qualitative research
  • Some interest in Quantitative research
