From genomics to COVID-19, Color has been on the forefront of population health delivering health care at scale. This role will generate insights to ensure we build experiences that help diverse populations stay safe, receive services, and be empowered. We need your expertise to quickly deliver experiences that are innovative and inclusive.

We are looking for a user researcher to help establish Color’s usability lab to ensure our product experiences are intuitive, accessible, and localized appropriately. You’ll focus primarily on gathering evaluative insights for our partnership on All of Us, an innovative initiative by the National Institute of Health to sequence the genomes of one million people living in the United States. You’ll also work across all product teams to champion usability, oversee routine testing, and empower others to run their own tests. Usability is one of our KPIs, and we need your help to ensure a vast range of people benefit from our product experiences.


How You’ll Contribute

  • Collect and analyze user behavior throughout the product life cycle (exploratory and/or summative testing) with a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, including usability studies, comprehension testing, concept testing, field visits, and product analytics
  • Be embedded with product managers, product designers, content strategists, engineers, genetic counselors, clinical researchers, and a lead user researcher on All of Us to gather behavioral data and conduct usability and comprehension testing
  • Help establish Color’s usability lab, where we will continually gather evaluative insights from a broad range of participants, including those historically underrepresented in biomedical research, non-native English speakers, and people utilizing assistive technology
  • Identify areas of opportunity and move quickly to address them
  • Collaborate with product analytics and the research team to develop a usability roadmap
  • Communicate out research findings to a wide audience thirsty for user insights
  • Understand and incorporate complex regulatory, business, and technical requirements
  • Champion human-centered approaches to ensure our products are available, accessible, and inclusive

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Deep understanding of the power of usability research
  • 3+ years UX research experience in an industry setting
  • A track record of various methods to conduct all aspects of research, from study design and moderation to analysis and reporting
  • The ability to move quickly to gather insights in a fast-paced environment
  • An analytical mind and curious soul invested in working collaboratively on tough problems facing millions of people
  • Clarity to break down complex problems into simple questions
  • Experience embracing constraints and negotiating trade-offs
  • Expertise wielding different research methods
  • The ability to tell a story that aligns, inspires, and incites action
  • Case studies showcasing how you frame problems, gather insights, and ultimately impact product experiences
