Currently, we are looking to hire a User Research and Insights that will lead our user research function at Study.com. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build out the user research function and help define how it is integrated into the product design process from problem space exploration to solution testing and everything in between. User Research is a critical component on Study.com’s focus on customer insight and product excellence.

User Researcher Position

As a User Researcher, you will help the company develop a deeper understanding and empathy around their users’ needs, behaviors and pain-points. You will be responsible for generating actionable user experience insights that will advance our products forward and add value to both the business and the user. You will work closely with our Product and design teams in helping them answer their questions through generative and evaluative research.

You will:

  • Leverage a broad range of research methods to generate insights that drive design, development, and business decisions
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, product designers, and developers in research execution and insight implementation
  • Develop a strong understanding of different team research needs
  • Assist teams in research analysis and improving the customer experience
  • Conduct usability and user tests across product lines
  • Drive impact, as measured by changes to the product roadmap and sprint backlogs
  • Communicate results and illustrate suggestions in a compelling and creative manner to all levels of management
  • Act as the liaison between exploratory research and usability practices
  • Advocate for user research best practices, including assisting or carrying out training sessions

Responsibilities

  • Assist User Research Manager in providing thought leadership to product teams and the broader organization around user research methods and best practices; assure the right research questions are being asked and aligned methodologies are used and executed appropriately; including but not limited to surveys, usability testing and user interviews; moderated or unmoderated usability testing.
  • Be a voice across teams that communicates insights and opportunities revealed by your own research and that of others.
  • Own and advocate for user segment needs and pain-points across teams.
  • Successfully persuade and excite work partners and decision makers to take aligned action on research findings- inspire them and help them internalize opportunities to delight customers.
  • Translate insights into measurable customer experience outcomes aligned to business goals.
  • Work with design, product management, and the growth team to develop innovative end-to-end solutions that address top outcomes, and iteratively design and test these solutions until outcomes are achieved or hypotheses are invalidated.

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years as a user researcher in a B2C software product space
  • End-to-end research experience with various methods (e.g., interviews, usability testing, contextual inquiry, surveys, concept testing), with some experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and UX best practices
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Excels in collaboration and is team-oriented
  • Experience researching cross-platform digital products and/or services
  • The ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous, and constantly changing agile environment
  • Eagerness to continually learn, grow and evolve the craft of research
  • Ability to be scrappy, and do what it takes to get the job done
  • BA/MA/MS in psychology, human computer interaction, anthropology, or related discipline a huge plus
  • Ed-tech experience a plus

Please Note: This position is located in our office in Mountain View, CA. Study.com has implemented a hybrid model that will include 3 days in-office and 2 days of remote work.
