Inclusive Usability is a core service offering for Applause. We are looking to bring aboard a UX professional with experience in digital accessibility design and UX research. The ideal candidate is a great communicator and self-starter. This role will support both client and internal facing initiatives.

Terms:

  • Role: UX Accessibility Specialist
  • Contract type: 1099
  • Location: Remote, US-based
  • Capacity: Up to 30 to 40 hours weekly
  • Duration: 1 year, with renewal potential

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating internally with Applause teams and externally with customer teams
  • Conducting remote unmoderated and moderated UX studies (following the Applause provided methodology and deliverables) with people with disabilities
  • Working with the teams and providing actionable feedback to guide product and design decisions
  • Assisting in the development of A11y design, general accessibility training and best practices for teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in an UX role with exposure to accessibility
  • Experience in qualitative research methods
  • Experience in using accessibility tools including screen readers and keyboard only navigation
  • Very collaborative with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, creative environment
  • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills
  • Confident communication and presentation skills
  • Flexibility to accommodate unplanned client and project changes
