Our User Research is geared towards an expert understanding of our audiences to inform everything we do. You’ll conduct primary research, exploring the behaviors and motivations of our users through interviews, surveys, polls and multiple other research methods. As a User Researcher, your findings and insights will help define useful, usable and delightful products and features that grow and strengthen our community.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the strategy team to share a full story of the Postman community from prospective to long term and engaged customers
  • Define and manage across multiple research methodologies and tools from interviews to survey design and polling.
  • Develop a deep understand of complex developer community tools to enable better conversations and information gathering
  • Maintain research results and reports that relate research findings to wide internal audiences from marketing to design and technology groups
  • Work closely with the strategy group to provide research to fulfill strategic initiatives and deliverables
  • Design and perform research studies that contribute to competitive intelligence, persona development, journey mapping and product roadmap initiatives
  • Design and develop surveys based on best practices for research utility, validity and limitation of common research biases
  • Gain and maintain an understanding of API technology to facilitate conversations with technical interviewees and know when and how to push for more information
  • Monitor social channels, industry and technology sites, podcasts and other channels to understand trending conversations, concerns and needs of the Postman community
  • Help the Postman organization understand what users value most in products and services
  • Support the design and Product Management teams with research studies for initiatives on the product roadmap
  • Socialize research as a practice throughout the company
  • Be a driving force in making Postman a customer-centric company

About You

  • Masters degree desired in psychology, human factors, Human Computer Interaction or similar experience
  • At least six years relevant work experience in user research, preferably related to advanced B2B products
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods with a portfolio and samples of reports and other outcomes of research
  • An understanding of survey design and understanding of the biases and goals of surveys for validity and reliability of outcomes
  • An understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods and when and how to apply them in various scenarios and at different points in the research process
  • Ability to lead entire research engagements, both strategically and tactically, to plan, design, execute, and communicate results and insights
  • Understanding of the measurement of research from baselining to measuring the proven impact of research on experiences and product improvements
  • The ability to execute polling and surveys one day and interviews the next as needed for the best research outcomes
  • Exceptional organization skills to track ongoing research efforts and outcomes
