The Red Hat User Experience Design (UXD) team is looking for a UX Researcher to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will work collaboratively with our UX interaction design and development teams to conduct end-to-end user research and contribute to the formation of a research framework and ongoing processes for our products. You will embed user research principles and methods into our design processes, leading to an optimal user experience for Red Hat products. Additionally, you will work across multiple Red Hat organizations to help refine a scalable user engagement program that will enable our users to have a role in product design and definition. To help us achieve our goals, Red Hat UXD is looking for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative fashion, and is self-motivated, well-organized, and flexible.

Primary job responsibilities

Contribute to an interdisciplinary team that includes other user experience researchers, interaction designers, visual designers, developers, product and marketing managers, and other stakeholders through all phases of the development cycle
Identify and define user research methods that are appropriate for a given design problem
Design and conduct research activities in a full range of areas: formative and summative usability testing, ethnographic or field studies, interviews, surveys, card sort techniques, persona development, and heuristic evaluations
Perform descriptive statistics on quantitative data collected through research activities and prepare research reports that include consumable data summaries and visualizations, as well as concise and actionable conclusions
Plan and coordinate logistics and research activities to take place at various Red Hat-sponsored conferences and user group meetings throughout the year

Required skills

Masters degree or higher in human computer interaction, human factors, applied psychology, experimental psychology, or a closely related area, or equivalent experience
Knowledge of the principles and practice of software interaction design
Experience with the user interface design process and methods, particularly as applied to web-based enterprise applications
Experience with Qualtrics, Loop11 and Tableau is a plus

Candidates must present a portfolio or CV describing relevant user experience research with links to more detailed work examples.
