Who are we?

Since our inception in 2015, we have focussed our vision on creating a “better way to work”, by supporting the most important function in any business, its people.

Fast forward to today and Rota is now a multinational platform unifying innovation, technology and community, bringing together employers (Partners) and workers (Members), for one common goal, to create a “better way to work”. Our people-first approach keeps our goal clear, pay our Members more and charge our Partners less, without compromising on service or quality on either side. But we didn’t stop there, we built our solution in a way that would allow us to support all businesses, large, small and anywhere in between.

Our vision of a “better way to work” doesn’t stop with us, it is about leading positive change and enabling others to follow suit, and it is for this reason that we also offer our platform as a stand-alone, internal software solution.

Who are you?

You are an experienced and innovative UX or Product Designer with at least 3 years of previous experience at this level and are full of energy and very creative. Your enthusiasm for creating a high-quality product which brings out the best of modern digital technology means that your creations are not only highly usable and intuitive but also beautifully designed.

As “the” link between the Product team, Technology team and wider business you will build relationships easily and working collaboratively will come naturally to you. You will ensure that all of our stakeholders and consumers' needs are clearly understood and considered in every decision you make. Your designs will relay complex but useful information in a creative and engaging manner that our engineers can relate to and easily understand, assisting them to convert your designs into innovative and ground-breaking products.

You will have a clear understanding of the product’s strong points of sale and the product’s competitive edge. You will be an advocate for the product’s value as well as the value of consumer research in addressing the product’s needs, providing clear points of improvement.

What systems will you be using?

You will be working across iOS, Android and web platforms and using Lean UX, Lean Startup, Design Thinking, and dual-track agile to implement your designs and must be confident using these systems and platforms. The engineering team will be using Javascript, Node.js and React and knowledge of these is beneficial to enable you to assist the translation of design to code.

What will you be doing?

  • In collaboration with the Product Manager, you will work with key stakeholders and end-users to identify research initiatives, design hypotheses and lead research that examines both user behaviour and attitudes. This will be done using a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods, such as surveys
  • You will think about the longer-term strategic approach about how to scale design solutions across our products and evolve a common design language
  • From your research findings, you will generate actionable insights that fuel ideation and subsequent ideation sessions that you will facilitate and collate outcomes for further review
  • You will communicate results and illustrate product initiatives and improvements in a compelling and creative way
  • You will design a User Experience that promotes ‘best in class’ usability and accessibility across our product that delivers against our strategic goals
  • You will have experience of working in customer-orientated user experience design projects, and the tools necessary to produce that work (e.g. Sketch, Adobe Xd, Illustrator/Photoshop, Framer X) along with the ability to communicate ideas quickly through sketching or other lo-fi design techniques, wire-framing and validating the design solutions in preparation for development.
  • Upon completion and validation of lo-fi design-build high-fidelity designs for development
  • Working with the Product Manager to identify success metrics for proposed designs/solutions
  • Participate in ongoing design reviews and iterations during the sprint.
