Weโ€™re looking for a UX Researcher to join our Network on a contract basis. A UX Researcher at Briteweb is responsible for becoming immersed in the priorities, challenges and opportunities our clients face in their work. They are emphatically empathetic to the user, acting as an advocate and conduit for distilling down big visions into prioritized imperatives for each new build or new feature concept. They are creative, collaborative and able to bring people together with their strong facilitation and communication skills โ€“ invigorating both our team and the client in a clear recommendation for what constitutes success.

About You

You are an investigator. You will be responsible for designing and conducting research, starting with identifying the best methods, based on the goals and available resources.

Are able to own the process. Your role will require the ability to interpret and adapt while maintaining close collaboration with your project manager on the overall integrity of the timeline and budget allocation.

An eagerness to optimize. Setting strategy at the start of the project to establish generative research that informs a participatory design approach is key โ€“ as is employing evaluative usability testing at regular junctures in order to continually bring best in class digital experiences to life.

About the Role

As a UX Researcher, you will be a powerful voice on the project team helping to inform strategy and establish direction in concert with your UX and UI design team, content strategist and project manager. Briteweb has a growing portfolio of projects ranging from multi-year relationships to new builds โ€“ your involvement will vary but typically be dedicated to a maximum of 2-3 projects at a time, allowing you to build rapport and connection with your team and the client.


Planning, designing and conducting usability tests from recruitment design to test moderation and reporting.
Conducting research to gather insights for new projects, including stakeholder interviews, external landscape analysis and data analytics interpretation.

  • Assisting project manager and client with user requirements gathering and prioritization
  • Developing user personas, user journey maps and user workflows to assist with feature definition.
  • Working with project teams to plan and execute appropriate research strategies in an effort to generate impactful insights.
  • Working closely with designers and developers to turn user data and insights into actionable feature requirements.
  • Advocating for user centered design and service design as part of the iterative creative strategy process.
  • Presenting findings, user insights and recommendations to internal teams and client stakeholder groups

Skills and Requirements

  • 3-4 years in a similar role
  • +1 year remote freelancing
  • Wireframing experience a plus, design or development experience an even bigger bonus
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to hone in on the most important questions and place priority on what matters most in research methodologies
  • Well versed in the techniques, tooling and best practice approaches for conducting UX research
  • Able to make sense of numbers, find insight in chaos and know when to dig farther versus settling in on a recommendation

This is an hourly gig with an expectation of 10-15 hours a week of work when you are actively engaged on a project.
