The Amazon Shopping Experience team seeks a thoughtful, creative and nimble UX Researcher to be a part of our team as we build the next generation of shopping on all devices and platforms – globally. We are a small, but well-established research team, with a proven track record for big impact. Our product partners are hungry for the insights our team produces, as we’ve quantifiably proven significant impact on both the business and the customer experience. In this role, your research will be agile, keeping pace with the rapid innovation of our teams. You will be right there with them - but you will also find time to zoom out and ask the big questions that change the course of these programs, or cause us to build entirely new ones. You will interact daily with product managers, designers, engineers and your research peers to understand and guide the team’s research needs, including designing and conducting research activities. This role requires the ability to collaborate with and influence others. Most importantly, it requires a relentless determination to do what is right for Amazon's customers. You have a deep understanding of user research methods and best practices, but you also have a nimble, creative and pragmatic approach, and you're interested in pushing the boundaries of agile research. You are a passionate researcher with uncanny observational and analytical skills, an impressive ability to collaborate with other teams and designers, and a relentless determination to do what is right for Amazon's customers. You can work with minimal direction and are capable of working quickly while delivering high-quality outputs. You will work on overlapping projects, so are good at multi-tasking, juggling competing priorities, and organizing yourself.

As An Ideal Candidate, You Will Have

  • End-to-end experience with all aspects of research (study design, moderation, analysis, reporting).
  • Hands-on experience with: remote testing, lab-based testing, longitudinal methods, iterative prototype testing, survey design and usage of multiple methods within a study.
  • Direct experience with research on a variety of devices (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Exceptional behavioral data-collection and analysis skills, (e.g., designing, conducting, and analyzing all kinds of user data.)
  • The ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work on schedule.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Eagerness to continually learn, grow and improve the craft of research.
  • Demonstrated passion for solving problems.

Key job responsibilities

  • Partner with product teams to identify and prioritize research questions based on analysis of current knowledge, project goals and risks.
  • Identify the best method or mix of methods based on research questions, timeline and resourcing.
  • Perform quick but thorough data analysis in order to create insightful and actionable findings.
  • Drive impact, as measured by changes to the product design and development roadmap.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years proven success leading UX Research projects in an applied setting with demonstrated impact.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables
  • A BA/BS or equivalent degree in experimental psychology, cognitive science, Human Factors, HCI, HCD or similar.
  • Experience conducting research on mobile platforms.
  • Retail/E-commerce/B2C research experience in a global context.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Human Factors, HCDE, or Cognitive Psychology
  • Retail/E-commerce research experience in a global context
  • International research experience
  • Strong grasp of quantitative data analysis
